Purchasing Info

To purchase a painting, email me at jeward@shasta.com and include your phone number and snail mail address (and shipping address). I will call you back to make arrangements. I accept checks or money orders. I will ship you the painting when your check clears.

Shipping Info

Paintings are unframed and unmatted, enclosed in an archival plastic sleeve, rolled in a cardboard mailing tube, and mailed insured by USPS. I charge a flat rate of $8.00 for shipping/handling if you’re in the continental U.S. Otherwise, I will email you about shipping costs.

Gift Certificates

Want a special painting for that special person but don’t know what they’d like? Email me at jeward@shasta.com with your phone number, snail mail and email addresses, the name and address of the gift recipient, and any message. After payment is completed, I will email or snail mail you or the recipient the gift certificate.

Watercolor has a quality of lightness and breath. When married to landscape, it speaks to me in the language of Spirit.

Nature has always been my solace, my inspiration—the mist hovering on a pond, the droplet sparkles on bare twigs after a rain, the twilight sun shafting through the pines. I paint either outside or inside. Outside, I can feel the energy of the earth surrounding and calling to me, and my plein air paintings carry that sense.

Often, I work from photographs taken on the 75-acre nature “preserve” where I live. When working from a photograph (or outside), I soak up the scene. Then I rarely look again. Instead, I paint from my inner sense of what I experience.

I either paint fast and loose, using mainly one layer. Or I paint, scrub an area out (if I’m not happy with it), and layer paint again and again. The many color layers create a glow. The scrubbing lends a velvety softness recalling pastel. And of course, you guessed it …I love color. Especially purple. Look for the purple in each painting!

My Materials

I use artist-quality paints (usually American Journey or Winsor Newton). My watercolor paper is Saunders Waterford 140 lb cold press. It is acid free, archival (meaning it endures), and the best paper for capturing the glory of wet-in-wet washes. Also, it stands up to my sometimes intense scrubbing (a unique aspect of my technique).
